Quartz Glass Crushing

Task
Crush waste quartz glass into a fraction of 0 – 12 mm to enable its further use in the production of refractory materials.

Process and Results
We were able to prepare the test samples very quickly, and the customer’s formulation of the appropriate production recipe also proceeded quickly and smoothly.

The issue was that the producer of quartz shards declared them as waste, ending up in a landfill. Therefore, it was necessary to find a way to turn this waste into a secondary raw material in compliance with legislation.

We managed to find a solution that complies with the applicable legislation and is advantageous both for the waste producer and for our customer. For the waste producer, the benefit lies in improving their ESG Reporting balance, while for the customer, it means they can import less scarce raw materials for their production. Turning waste into a valuable secondary raw material has a positive impact on the environment.
