Assignment
Processing samples of polyester composite reinforced with glass fibers into a 15-50 mm fraction to identify a suitable recycling technology.
Process and Outcome
We chose a crushing technology, even though our crusher is not primarily designed for materials with a fibrous matrix.
Initially, our crushing efforts were unsuccessful – clumps of crushed fiberglass wool quickly clogged the output screen, and control over particle size was ineffective. The resulting fraction was either too small or too large, causing the crusher to become overloaded and cease operation.
After conducting a thorough analysis of the initial results and gaining a deeper understanding of the material’s destruction phases, we successfully optimized the crushing parameters. This allowed us to process the material to the specified fraction effectively.
